Shorthand Phonetics: Cantata No. 6 (Assistants of Assistants) album

Setelah merilis lima album, Shorthand Phonetics kini kembali dengan album keenamnya berjudul “Cantata no. 6 (Assistants of Assistants) in Varying Keys, Op. 25 for Three Electric Guitars, One Bass Guitar, One Drum Kit, One Tenor and Additional Voices Where Appropriate”. Nuansa musik lo-fi indie rock masih tersaji di album ini. Dengan software musik Sonar 7 untuk prosesi rekaman dan Fruity Loops Studio 9 untuk proses mixingnya, Shorthand Phonetics menciptakan karyanya secara mandiri.

Shorthand Phonetics adalah proyek band dari seorang mahasiswa kedokteran di salah satu universitas negeri di Bandung, Ababil Ashari namanya. Berangkat dari sebuah cerita yang diterjemahkannya menjadi komposisi musik dan lirik tematik. Di album keenamnya ini, Ababil menyuguhkan sebuah cerita tentang Hanabishi Hideaki, mahasiswa kedokteran dan seorang novelis dari Jepang. Sebuah cerita yang sedikit banyak telah menginspirasikan Shorthand Phonetics dalam keenam albumnya selama 8 tahun cerita ini membentang.

Shorthand Phonetics berkolaborasi lirik dengan penulis-penulis yang membantunya dalam bercerita di album ini. Sangat layak untuk disimak setiap tulisan yang ada di album ini. Mungkin jika booklet dari album ini adalah sebuah rangkaian cerita, maka lagu-lagu di album ini pun akan menjadi soundtracknya. Telinga kalian akan dipacu dengan komposisi lo-fi ala Shorthand Phonetics dan lirik tematiknya. So, penasaran karya apa yang terlahir di album keenamnya ini?
